Trump Derangement Syndrome has derailed the Democratic Party. Most Americans approve of the common sense measures by Trump to increase oil production, abolish DEI, secure the borders, cut federal waste, and rid males from women’s prisons and locker rooms. Yet, Democrats insists on vilifying anything that Trump promotes. By opposing basic common sense policies, they identify themselves as Team Crazy. And, it doesn’t help to throw in with illegal aliens and federal bureaucrats. …………… Ever wonder why Donald Trump routinely makes himself available to the press whereas Joe Biden did not? Perhaps the truth doesn’t mind being questioned and a lie does not like being challenged. …………… Democrats say Musk should not be the one taking a chainsaw to government spending. That is the proper job of Congress. But, it was Congress that created the excesses by rewarding special interests with superfluous pork. The practice is commonly known as vote-buying. Just as it is unrealistic to expect the arsonist to put the fire out, it is unrealistic to expect Congress to police funding their pet projects. Spending is a fundamental lever of power for self-interested politicos and cutting perks makes few friends in the donor class. …………… It is amazing how many people still fall for the argument that, if life is unfair, the answer is to turn more money and power over to politicians. …………… USAID spent $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala. Some say that such stories are irrelevant, a result of improper perspective. After all, such expenditures are just a drop in the bucket within a multi-trillion dollar budget. But, consider that most folks will not pay anything near $2 million in federal tax during the course of their entire life. That would mean several of us paid federal tax for a lifetime solely to have it squandered on such nonsense. …………… If we want our money going to charity, we can donate it ourselves. We don’t need “representatives” for that. Tax money should only be used to fund the proper function of government. Taking our money at gunpoint to simply give it to someone else is what a thief does. …………… Radio host Neal Boortz insightfully observed that if government were a plant, it would be kudzu.
Throughout recent memory, California has been a one-party state. Though significant portions of the state’s interior have voted conservative, Silicon Valley tech moguls as well as coastal and Hollywood elites have been the dominant force in state politics. But now, we see Zuckerberg, Cook, Bezos and Co. lined up behind Trump at the inauguration. And, the titans of tinseltown have turned on the inept leadership that failed to anticipate and prepare for the devastating wildfires. Republicans may finally have a glimmer of hope. In fact, if voter ID were enacted, Democrats would have serious worries. …………… Last April, California hiked the minimum wage for fast food workers from $16 an hour to $20 an hour. Since then, 1040 fast food restaurants have been permanently closed and the cost of a hamburger has been jacked up about a buck. State politicians continue to serve the citizen in much the same way as KFC serves the chicken. …………… Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers officially changed the term “mother”to “inseminated person” in the statutory language of his budget bill. The new label narrowly edged out other contenders such as womb owner, egg toter and kid dropper. …………… It should be noted that despite Sports Illustrated, Victoria’s Secret and others continuing to promote the notion that plus-sized women are the new sexy, the robust sales of Ozempic indicate otherwise. …………… Everyone has a philosophy which guides their actions but few bother to identify the premises on which they are actually based. Not the official philosophy they espouse, but the one their behavior reflects. Rene Descartes noted: “To live without philosophizing is in truth the same as keeping the eyes closed without attempting to open them.” …………… It is amazing how many folks think electricity is an alternative to fossil fuel. It is not. Fossil fuel is an energy source, whereas electricity is simply a means of transmitting energy. Most electricity is produced from fossil fuels. …………… One of the problems with being a pessimist is that you can never celebrate when you are proven right. …………… Don’t judge? Only if you find no distinction between good and evil. Besides, to say that being non-judgmental is better than being judgmental is itself a judgment, and therefore a violation of the principle. …………… Remember when Joe and Kamala argued that the border would have been secured if only Trump would have allowed Republicans to vote for the bipartisan immigration plan. They hung their hats on that talking point for months. Now, we know the truth. In just one month, by executive orders alone, Trump has cut illegal border crossings by 95%. That should give some Trump critics second thoughts, or perhaps first ones. ↓
Great read! Team Crazy's knickers have twisted themselves into a truly Gordian knot, and the attendant panic is wonderful to observe, but, as you so astutely point out, the culture in congress must be transformed just as fundamentally as that of the unelected D.C. bureaucracy if our Republic is to survive. We need citizen statesmen volunteering to do their civic duty, not professional politicians dependent on party and client money for their "job". Also, and most importantly, we need a voter base that understands and appreciates the constraints on the federal gov't contained in the Constitution, and quickly and consistently votes out elected officials who disrespect those constraints. Our Republic was designed to be an experiment in self-government. It will inevitably collapse if the electorate, through ignorance, complacency, bribery, gullibility, or naivety, fails to provide the required discipline of its representatives. President Trump is off to an excellent start, but he can't do it all himself. It is ultimately up to us to inform ourselves, understand that gov't simply cannot be all things to all people, and firmly confine it to its proper limited functions as so brilliantly conceived by the Founders.
Great insights Jim. Your articles are a must read. I have not seen any posts from our mutual friend. Did you run him out of town. Keep up the good work.
