When the Supreme Court put an end to racial discrimination in college admissions, Al Sharpton said the decision “is tantamount to sticking a dagger in our back.” Finally, the face of the ethnic grievance industry admits that Affirmative Action was never about ending discrimination based on race, only changing its target. ……………. Americans view of racism has been totally distorted by both the media and academia, as well as ethnic grievance organizations like Black Lives Matter. The argument for reparations might suffer a good bit if it were common knowledge that more white Americans have an ancestor who died in the Civil War than have an ancestor who owned a slave. …………. Just in case BLM forgets to mention, if not a single policeman killed a single black individual anywhere in the United States, it would not reduce black homicides by one percent. Just saying. ……………… The High Court also disallowed Biden’s scheme to shift student debt to taxpayers. While Merrick Garland is is able to insulate Joe from the repercussions of his financial moves, the judicial branch ruled the Big Guy could not do the same for college borrowers. ……………. Not to be dissuaded by the pesky Court, Joe instantly rolled out another scheme to rescue students from their agreed-upon obligations, just in time for the 2024 election. It brings the words of H.L. Mencken to mind, “government is a broker in pillage, and every election is a sort of advanced auction on stolen goods.” …………. Notice the grads working at Starbucks? For decades, self-serving politicians funded huge grant and loan programs based on the pretense that higher education was a wise investment; a necessary recipe for future prosperity. But if that were true, there would be no case for student debt relief. Wise investments rarely require bailouts, but scams do. …………. Minimum wage laws are widely promoted as a mechanism to prevent workers from being "exploited" at the hands of employers who pay less than what uninvolved third parties want them to pay. But would anyone accept those wages if better alternatives were available? ……………. A contract should be any mutual agreement between two parties that does not violate the personal, property or civil rights of others and the government’s simple role should be to enforce the terms. That seems far more consistent with a free society than the government dictating what agreements they will arbitrarily allow. ………… Instead of announcing that cocaine was found in the White House and then cover-up the findings of an investigation in the most surveilled location on planet Earth, they should have just flush it down the toilet. Now, the Secret Service looks as incompetent as the rest of the administration. ……………….. It is difficult to make an argument for social evolution when yesteryear’s absurdities have become today’s realities. One doesn’t have to be that old to remember a time when the notion that males could gain proper access to the women’s locker room by simple proclamation was in its infancy. It was merely a pervert’s pipe dream. ……….. There is no greater monument to the folly of le ftist governance than San Francisco. Once, the blueprint for a beautiful city, an uninterrupted chain of political idiots have turned it into the chalk outline of one. ……………….. Does anyone remember when the argument against reliance on fossil fuel was “peak oil?” We were running out. Then, after discovery of the huge Bakken Reserves spoiled that notion, air pollution stepped in as the primary reason to shift away from oil. But, we found innovation in technology had actually made the air cleaner than in past decades. However, studies that determined the planet getting hotter rode to the rescue. Fossil fuel was deemed culprit to a new crime, global warming. When that theory got a little weak in the knees, the focus shifted first to severe weather and then to “climate change,” a catch-all category so vague that the capacity to produce contrary evidence was virtually obliterated. Like COVID models, climate change models are produced by those vested in the results. Just check who gets the grants. Knowing the nature of politicians, it would be wise to demand compelling evidence before trading away a future of energy independence to continue down our current path of energy shortages, outages and dependence. Only a fool would assume our energy future has been designed with more wisdom than the Afghanistan withdrawal.
