Before the gas-powered automobile came along, pollution in big cities was a horrific problem. Cities, like San Francisco, wreaked of manure as everyone either traveled by carriage or on horseback. It is hard to imagine what that was like — until now. Thanks to the homeless, a walk down Market Street harkens back to days gone by. ………….. It took an innovative giant like Henry Ford to bring us the gas-powered automobile, but only a tyrannical mental midget like Gavin Newsom to destroy them. ……….. Electric vehicles have been around as long as gas-powered ones. Consumers have never found them appealing because they cannot solve the disadvantages they have had since day one. Relative to gas-powered ones, EVs have always been heavier, less powerful, more cumbersome to refuel, have far less range and are more expensive to maintain. In addition, they depreciate in value at a rapid rate. The situation is pretty much like it always has been only today, tyrants have seized the power to mandate away the preferable alternatives. Either this is a functioning democracy and the people are clamoring for this change or you can conclude that the government is not us. ………….. “Crisis is the rallying cry of the tyrant.” — James Madison: Consider how government authorities have grown amidst “COVID lockdowns”, “existential climate change”, and “threats to democracy”. As long as the tactics of continual crisis work, expect more of them for as long as the eye can see. ……………. Proof is mounting that Joe Biden’s home state, Pennsylvania, does not produce the sharpest knives in the drawer. In addition to having selected bumbling Joe and brain-damaged John, state voters reelected dead state representative Tony DeLuca. Yes dead. The Democrat is thought to have benefitted from a strong showing among his fellow deceased and, like his pal Fetterman, rolled up the score from the harvest of early mail-in balloting. ………………. There is a lot of misunderstanding out there about inflation but it is not difficult to understand. It happens when the money supply increases faster than production. To illustrate the point, give everyone at an auction more money to bid on the same limited products and watch as each item is bid up. ………………. The most fraudulent collectivist arguments revolve around the notion of pursuing the public good. The notion of “the public good” is valid only if we can agree what that is. We can’t. ………….
